Membership in the association is open to any person interested in the North American West. Institutions may become sponsoring members and have their names appear in the publications of the association. All members will receive four issues of the Western Historical Quarterly, and have online access to the WHQ through JSTOR, two issues (fall and spring) of the WHA Newsletter, and an annual conference program, including registration information. Members may also receive quarterly issues of Montana The Magazine of Western History, at a reduced membership rate of $19.00. Joint members receive one set of publications, two conference programs and two ballots for elections. Patron, Donor, and Sponsoring members are recognized in print in WHA publications and on our website.

Foreign memberships other than Canadian or Mexican require an additional $20 for postage. Acceptable payment methods: check or money order in U.S. dollars, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, or Discover). Please allow four to six weeks for processing before receiving confirmation of your membership.

Gift Memberships
Gift Memberships are now available online! You may now purchase a membership as a gift to a friend or colleague on-line at our General Store or by printing the mail-in form and sending it to the office. A gift letter will be sent to the recipient acknowledging your gift to them and we will also send you a receipt of your purchase. Be sure to include the recipients name and address in the special notes when purchasing gift memberships so that we can be properly acknowledged your gift to them.
A WHA gift membership is a gift to your friend and/or colleagues as well as the Western History Association, so it is the gift that gives twice!
